For executors & family

You inherited a coin collection. We’ll help you make sense of it.

Most of our sellers are not collectors. They’re someone’s son, daughter, or executor who opened a closet or a safe-deposit box and found a lifetime of coins. We do this every week. We are patient, we explain everything, and we never rush you.

If this sounds familiar

You’re probably not sure where to start.

Maybe the collection is in albums, plastic flips, old mint boxes, or a coffee can. Maybe there’s paperwork. Maybe there’s nothing but coins and a note. Maybe a sibling wants a quick answer and you just want a fair one.

Whatever the situation, you do not need to organize, identify, or clean anything. (Please don’t clean the coins— cleaning damages the surface and can sharply reduce value.) Send a handful of photos and we’ll take it from there.

What to expect

A calm, three-step process.

  1. Send photos or call. A wide shot of the collection plus any close-ups you can manage. We can also do this entirely over the phone if you prefer.
  2. We review and explain.A working numismatist — not a call-center rep — reviews the collection and walks you through what’s there, what’s valuable, and how each piece was priced.
  3. You decide, no pressure. Accept, sleep on it, or get a second opinion. If you accept, we send a fully insured shipping kit (or visit, for larger estates) and pay you promptly.
For executors & attorneys

Documentation you can use for the estate.

If you’re settling an estate, we can provide a written appraisal letter on letterhead suitable for probate or estate accounting. If you have an attorney or financial advisor we are happy to coordinate directly with them.

For coin collections in the five- and six-figure range we recommend an in-person visit; we travel for larger estates at no cost to you.

Common questions

The questions families ask us most.

Do we need to inventory or sort anything first?
No. We can work from photos or in person. Sorting can actually obscure value — keep coins in any holders or packaging they came in.
What if multiple family members are involved?
We’re used to it. We can present the appraisal to everyone at once and answer questions in a single call so the family can decide together.
Will the offer be fair if we’re not coin people?
That’s exactly the situation we’re designed for. We explain how every number was calculated — spot prices for bullion, rarity and grade for coins — so you can judge it without being an expert. You’re also free to get a second opinion before deciding.
How long does it take?
Initial appraisal is usually within one business day of receiving your photos. Once you accept, payment goes out promptly after we receive and confirm the items.

We’ll walk you through it.

Free appraisal. No obligation. Real numismatists, real patience.
